“We could certainly have expected better, even if the sanction against Pallacanestro Viola had been reformulated, as far as we are concerned it remains unjust and inequitable.” This is what the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà stated following the outcome of the appeal presented by the neroarancio company which saw the disqualification days for PalaCalafiore reduced from 4 to 2 and that for the basketball player Nikola Ivanaj from 2 to one, the latter in fact already discounted in the derby with Catanzaro.
“The fact that the penalty has been halved – continues the mayor – although positive, does not compensate a company that has been extremely damaged due to facts and events from which it is totally unrelated. This is why we cannot be satisfied while recognizing, however, how the second degree of judgment has assessed the abnormality of the first pronouncement, excessively penalizing for the Reggio Calabria team and its fans”.
“In any case – he continued – the possibility of playing the next match in Pentimele, albeit behind closed doors, avoids not only the damage but also further insult to the Reggio club. We are certain, however, that nothing and no one will be able to stop the ride by coach Cadeo’s boys who, so far, are playing a season worth remembering which is making the hearts of Reggio’s lovers of the ball beat.
“I renew, therefore – concluded Giuseppe Falcomatà – my biggest good luck to the president Carmelo Laganà and to the magnificent roster of Pallacanestro Viola. Let’s move forward, until victory”.
