Madrid constitutes the ‘Sports and disability’ and ‘Sports and women’ tables

This week, the Madrid City Council established the working groups ‘Sports and Disability’ and ‘Sports and Women’, with the aim of improving municipal sports facilities and services, with the participation of experts in various subjects, associations of people with disabilities and Paralympic athletes.

The disability table seeks to promote sports practice for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The Councilor for Sports, Sonia Cea, explained that its purpose is for Madrid and its citizens to have the best sports facilities, supporting adapted sports in collaboration with all administrations and entities. During the debate, They discussed topics such as promoting inclusive participation, organizing specific sports activities, planning awareness events and improving access to sports facilities. In addition, continuous training of coaches with adapted sports subjects was proposed.

This table had the participation of entities such as the Madrid Federation of Sports for the Intellectually Disabled (Femaddi), the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities (Feddf), the Madrid Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities (Fmddf), the Ilunion Group and Paralympic athletes.

On the other hand, the table on ‘Sports and Women’ It focused on the creation of specific programs for women and the promotion of sports practice from school, as well as the fight against the abandonment of physical activity by women. A prominent topic was the need to create role models for girls and give visibility to athletes in all categories. Among the participants in this table are representatives of Atlético de Madrid Femenino, the Madrid Federation of Judo and Associated Sports, the Madrid Triathlon Federation and Eductrade, a company specialized in social welfare projects.
