The adventure in the Coupe de France ended with some regrets last Saturday against the professionals of Pau FC, residents of Ligue 2 (1-3). Some regrets because, like the start of the season, Alain Pochat’s players had the ammunition to undermine the Pau structure weakened by a poor series in the championship. Certainly, Elie Laprevotte’s teammates also conceded a few chances and conceded three goals, but with a bit of additional offensive success, the fate of the match would have gone the other way.
A worthy opponent
The Ciel et Blanc will quickly have to bounce back because the championship resumes its rights this weekend with a crucial reception for the rest of the season. Firstly, because the Columérins started their season well with a faultless record at home on the first four receptions (four victories), before suffering two defeats in a row during the last two days, including the first at home against the Stade Bordeaux. Colomiers, which has made reaching N2 one of its objectives, has therefore fallen back in the ranking and arrives at Deschamps with the desire to restart a positive series. Then, because the Haut-Garonne players have, with Gabin Legrand, the top scorer in this group A of N3 (eight goals scored in eight matches) and Guillaume Lesec, a goalkeeper who knows the Bayonne house well.
Rowing in great shape at home
But for their part, the Txuri Urdin also have some statistics to show off, such as their invincibility this season, at least in the championship, on the Deschamps pitch. Three victories against Stade Bordelais (2-1 at the last second thanks to Thomas Daguerre), against Onet hands down (5-0) and Trélissac (3-1 after being behind) which make the Grand Basque a land hostile to visitors. And an invincibility that Alain Pochat’s protégés will want to maintain as long as possible to stay at the top of the rankings. The Bayonnais have scored at least one goal in ten of their twelve matches this year. Colomiers is warned.
