FC Bayern Munich – FC Augsburg 3:0 (0:0)
At the start of the 11th Bundesliga matchday, FC Bayern Munich won the home game against FC Augsburg 3-0. Coach Vincent Kompany’s team secured a deserved victory and temporarily extended their lead in the table to eight points ahead of RB Leipzig. England international Harry Kane scored all three goals (63rd minute, 90+3, 90+5), two of them from penalties.
For the FCA, however, the situation remains disappointing – the results are particularly sobering away from home: Augsburg have been without a win in foreign stadiums for nine league games (eight defeats) and over eight months.
Even before kick-off, there was good news for Bayern: Kompany was able to call on both Manuel Neuer, who was recently injured, and Leon Goretzka, for whom it was only his second start of the season. Goretzka also had the first shot chance for the record champions (13th). Otherwise, the superior Bavarians found it difficult to find solutions in the danger zone against the very compact Augsburg team.
Jamal Musiala was only centimeters away from Bayern’s best chance before the break after a cross from Harry Kane (42′). Augsburg, on the other hand, barely managed to get into the transition game that coach Jess Thorup had hoped for with Munich’s constant pressure.
After the substitution, things only went one way: Goretzka’s header hit the crossbar (48′), shortly afterwards Augsburg keeper Nediljko Labrović parried a shot from Michael Olise. Although Munich’s attacks gained momentum, a hand penalty ultimately brought the decision after video review. Mads Pedersen was the culprit.
In stoppage time, Kane made it 2-0 (90+3, penalty) after a foul by Keven Schlotterbeck. The Augsburg player received a yellow-red card for the foul. In the fifth minute of injury time, Kane finally scored the final goal and crowned his performance with a hat trick.
