The inevitable Harry Kane scored three goals, including two penalties, during Bayern’s victory over Augsburg (3-0), in Munich, at the opening of the 11th day of the Bundesliga.
Four days before hosting PSG in the Champions League, Bayern Munich patiently built its success against Augsburg (3-0), with a new hat-trick from Harry Kane, Friday evening during the 11th day of the German championship. With this fifth consecutive victory in the Bundesliga, Bayern has had an almost perfect start to the season with 29 points out of 33 possible, only giving up points against Bayer Leverkusen, reigning champion (1-1) at home and in Frankfurt (3- 3).
Before the other matches of the 11th day of the Bundesliga, the teammates of Manuel Neuer, who started despite a mid-week spike in his ribs during training, are eight points ahead of RB Leipzig (21), who travel Saturday at Hoffenheim, at the top of the ranking, and ten on Eintracht Frankfurt (20) which hosts Werder Bremen on Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.).
Five in a row
This is the fifth consecutive victory in the Bundesliga without conceding a goal, an unprecedented performance since March 2017. In all competitions, the Munich players signed a sixth consecutive match without conceding a goal, which had not happened to them since February 2014, under Pep Guardiola.
Under the snow for the first ten minutes and in an Allianz Arena transformed into an ice cube (temperature of -2 degrees, felt -7 degrees), Vincent Kompany’s men once again faced an extremely weak team, as was already the case the case against Benfica Lisbon (1-0), at Sankt Pauli (1-0) or even against Union Berlin (3-0).
The deliverance for the 75,000 spectators came from Harry Kane, who transformed a penalty conceded by Augsburg defender Mads Pedersen, guilty of a handball in the penalty area on a corner taken by Michael Olise. Augsburg goalkeeper Nediljko Labrovic, who had until then repelled Munich’s attempts, was unable to do anything against Kane’s shot into the top corner. In added time, Kane was hooked in the area and won a second penalty which he was quick to convert, before adding a third goal with a header a few seconds later.
This is Kane’s 14th goal in the Bundesliga this season, the 20th in all competitions, taking into account the six scored in the Champions League during the first four days.
