Ersin Akaya, coach of the Chorluspor 1947 football team, playing in the Turkish 3rd League, was attacked by an unknown person while walking.
According to İdman.biz with reference to Milliyet.com.tr, the incident occurred today at around 15:00 local time.
Having been seriously wounded by a pistol shot, Akan fell to the ground. The attacker fled the scene. The coach was immediately taken to the hospital. Despite the intervention of doctors, it was not possible to save his life.
Police began an investigation at the scene. Efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect.
