(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Lee Chang-gyu = U.S. President-elect Donald Trump nominated Scott Turner, a former professional American football player, as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on the 22nd (local time).
President-elect Trump said on his social networking service (SNS) Truth Social on this day, “I am pleased to nominate Scott Turner, from Texas, as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.” He is the first black ministerial candidate in the second Trump administration.
Turner served as chairman of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council (WHORC) during the first Trump administration.
“Scott has led an unprecedented effort to transform some of America’s most underserved communities,” President-elect Trump said. “Under Scott’s leadership, opportunity zones have attracted more than $50 billion in private investment.”
“Scott will work with me to make America great again for the American people,” he added.
