Leadership in the White House

During Trump’s first term, Turner led the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council. In an official statement, Trump praised Turner for his outstanding work: “He led an unprecedented effort that transformed our nation’s most vulnerable communities.” With this nomination, Turner is the highest-ranking Black person Trump has selected for his Cabinet to date.

From the NFL to politics

Before entering politics, Turner was a cornerback in the NFL for nine seasons. He played for Washington, the Chargers and the Broncos. His career began as the seventh pick in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL Draft after playing college at Illinois.

This impressive career from professional athlete to political leadership demonstrates Turner’s versatility and commitment to the community. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
