NBA News: NBA promotes greater vigilance against break-ins

The NBA has asked its players to be more vigilant about targeted break-ins at their homes. In a letter to teams, the league said the FBI had linked some break-ins to “transnational South American theft groups,” which are “well-organized, sophisticated rings that possess advanced techniques and technology, including pre-surveillance, Drones and signal jammers.”

The league followed the NFL, which also distributed such a letter this week. According to US media, the sending of the memo was preceded by a briefing with the FBI on November 15th. There have been several break-ins involving stars from the NFL and NBA in recent weeks.

Among the football players affected were the superstars of the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. In basketball, Mike Conley from the Minnesota Timberwolves was caught, and in the case of Bobby Portis, the criminals even struck while he was on the court for the Bucks.
