With an outstanding performance, the Guárico state delegation emerged as the great winner in the badminton discipline of the Oriente 2024 National Games. After three intense days of competition in the covered gymnasium of the Los Guaritos campus of the UDO Monagas, the Guariqueño athletes They accumulated a total of three gold medals, one silver and one bronze, thus dominating the medal table for the category.
Guarique badminton players demonstrated their superiority on the court, winning gold in the men’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles modalities. Luis Martínez was crowned champion in the men’s singles category, while together with his partner Rolando Medina, they won in the doubles category. For their part, athletes Denisse Arveláez and Bárbara Sáez won the gold medal in the women’s couples category.
In addition to the three gold medals, the Guárico delegation also obtained a silver medal in the women’s individual, thanks to the outstanding performance of Fabiola Duarte, and a bronze medal in the same category, achieved by Denisse Arveláez.
Although Guárico was the great dominator of badminton in these games, other delegations also managed to get on the podium. Cojedes took gold in the women’s singles category with Bárbara Lamas, who also shared third place in women’s doubles with Alexmary Zerlin. Fabricio Rodríguez and Carlos Giménez, both from Cojedes, won a silver and bronze medal, respectively, in the men’s singles category, and added another bronze medal in men’s doubles.
For its part, the Trujillo delegation also stood out with two silver medals in pairs, one in women’s and one in men’s, and one bronze in individuals.
These Oriente 2024 National Games have served as a showcase to demonstrate the talent of Venezuelan badminton players, who have raised the name of their states.
