On behalf of the honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the DIF Michoacán System, Grisel Tello Pimentel, the general director of the state organization, Óscar Celis Silva, inaugurated the fourth Lenia Ruvalcaba 2024 Rookie Cup, before 200 novice judokas from the country, of which 55 are girls, boys and adolescents in state residential care and for the first time 10 girls from the Jalisco DIF System participate.
The triple Paralympic medalist, Lenia Ruvalcaba, said she was grateful for the reception that judo has in Michoacán, which has positioned itself as one of the sports that promotes the values of judo. respect, honesty, self-control, friendship, courtesy, honor, courage and modesty, fundamental in this competition and in life itself.
Michoacán is once again the epicenter of judo in Mexico, not only because it hosts the fourth Rookie Cup, but because, in this framework twinning was carried out with the Hogar Cabañas Social Assistance Center, from the state of Jalisco, who have also started the path of sports to guarantee the well-being of their population.
“In Michoacán things are being done very well in the judo discipline, I can only congratulate and thank the honorary president of the Michoacán DIF System, Grisel Tello, for the support,” shared Lilian Estrada Bautista, president of the Mexican Judo Federation.
The cup was organized jointly with institutions of the Government of Michoacán, among which the DIF System, the State Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Cecufid)the Executive Secretariat of the State Public Security System, in addition to the judo federation and association.
The activities take place this Saturday and Sunday at the facilities of the Multipurpose Auditorium of the Army of the Revolution Sports Center (CDER), where the Mini, Baby, Pre-infant categories participate; as well as Sub 13, 15, 18, 21 and Primera Fuerza.
