Carolina Marín continues to recover of the serious injury she suffered in the badminton semifinals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Huelva native silenced all of Spain with her screams of pain and her desperate effort to continue playing despite having torn the cruciate ligament in her right knee.
Logically, the Andalusian could not continue and was left without an Olympic medal, which she was cherishing. That was not the first serious injury of his career, but the third, which made Marín think about retirement. Some time later, Carolina Marín has not only once again demonstrated that she has an incredible spirit of struggle and improvement, she is also receiving a multitude of recognitions for his career and for how he is facing this new blow in his life, both sporting and personal.
The Huelva native was awarded last October with the Princess of Asturias Sports Award, an award that was later followed by many others, as well as the recognition of Spanish society for her words about the political management of what happened in Valencia with the DANA and how she devoted herself to those affected by collaborating as another volunteer on the ground. This Saturday, the International Horse Show (SICAB)which is held at the Seville Exhibition and Congress Palace (FIBES), which this year hosts its 34th edition and which on Wednesday also organized a recognition for Jesús Navas, honored Carolina Marín for “her great career and perfectly representing the sporting values to which SICAB feels committed.”
It is not the only tribute that the Huelva native receives this weekend in Seville, since on Sunday she will be recognized, along with the Sevillian Paralympic rower Leonor García, before the start of the Women’s Race in the capital of Seville. Both will be honored for being “huge sporting and personal role models for all women, especially for the youngest ones who have in them two models of athletes to follow.”
In addition, Carolina Marín will premiere a documentary on Movistar Plus+ titled “Carolina Marín: The Infinite Fight” on December 2. The 2016 Olympic champion, three-time world champion and seven-time European badminton champion received “exhaustive monitoring” during her path to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, all of this preparation being seen in the documentary, where there are also great interviews with characters like Rafa Nadal or Saúl Craviotto.
