- The people of Bogotá increased the difference over Antioquia to 5 gold, while Valle discounted 1; In the Olympic sector, Bogotá returned to second place and is now the escort of the leader Antioquia, above the Valley.
Bogotá, November 24, 2024.- The 15th day of competitions at the I Eje Cafetero 2024 National Youth Games turned out to be quite positive for the interests of Team Bogotá, as it asserted itself in the leadership of the Paralympic sector (collected 3 medals, including 2 gold and 1 silver). and returned to second place in the medal table in the Olympic sector (he won 9 medals, of which 6 were gold, and 3 bronzes).
It was one of what they call “round” day, with 12 medals that were won in total. In the Paralympic sector, 2 gold and 1 silver were obtained, and the advantage over Antioquia was increased to 5, although Valle did discount 1 gold medal, and was 8; In any case, a relatively comfortable lead and a good outlook based on what remains to be disputed, which bodes well for the capital.
Team Bogotá is the leader with 98 medals, of which 36 are gold, 31 silver and 31 bronze; Antioquia follows with 76 (31-21-24), and then Valle with 70 (28-24-18), Santander with 56 (20-22-14) and Cundinamarca with 45 (18-17-10).
Moving on to the Olympic sector, enormous satisfaction for the result and for the response of our athletes, who responded to the Valle del Cauca attack and, contrary to what was expected, added 6 golds, although it is 19 golds behind the leader Antioquia, it took 3 for the Valle and once again assumed second place in the medal table; And, the best thing was that some of those medals were won directly from the people of Valle del Cauca.
A good loot
The day’s collection in the Paralympic sector began very early in the para athletics Emily Valencia, by winning gold in the U17 class T37 200 meter dash, with a time of 33.61 seconds, to predict a good day.
It was followed by Franklin Sáenz’s gold in shot put classes F55/56/57, with a throw of 7.98 meters; and then came the silver medal of Ionis Dayana Salcedo in the 200 meter dash U21 classes T11/12/13, to contribute the grain of sand that allowed us to achieve the goal of the day.
And in relation to the Olympic sector, the joy at the end of the day was complete, because something much better than the established goal was achieved. The first bell was given very early by Alejandro Gutiérrez Alcocer in equestrian, by winning the individual jumping over all event.
Fencing immediately hit the big time by winning the men’s team saber final against Valle, with the quartet made up of Emilio Vargas, Gabriel Santamaría, Óscar Niño and Eliécer Santamaría; and he was supported by Jordan Vanegas in the 66 kg judo category, winning gold by beating Juan Buitrago, from Santander, in the final.
Then came the great presentation of swimming with three golds in a row: first, Alice Sophia Belotti won the 200 m butterfly over Silvia Richar and Alejandra Mejía from Valle del Cauca; Second, Isabella Budnik won the 100 meter backstroke over Carolina Rojas de Antioquia and Valeri Mosquera del Valle. And third, in the 4×100 m mixed medley relay, due to disqualification from Antioquia, he climbed to the top of the podium with the team made up of Alice Belotti, Isabella Budnik, Ian Maldonado and Jairo Moreno, defeating Valle by one hundredth of a second.
There were no silvers on the day, but there were three bronzes to round out the task. The first in men’s 60 kg judo with Arley Vallejo, the second with Nicolás Mejía in 1,500 m freestyle swimming, and the third also in swimming in the mixed 4×100 m freestyle relay, with Camila Tovar, Isabella Gallo, Jacobo Ramos and Jairo Moreno.
