More than 60 residential care participants from the DIF Michoacán and Jalisco systems join the competition

Morelia, Michoacán, November 23, 2024. The Fourth Lenia Ruvalcaba Novice Cup 2024 has been inaugurated in Michoacán, once again consolidating the state as a crucial point for the development of judo in Mexico. Óscar Celis Silva, general director of DIF Michoacán, representing the honorary president Grisel Tello Pimentel, started the event that brings together 200 novice judokas from all over the country. Among the participants are 55 children and adolescents in state residential care and, for the first time, 10 girls from the Jalisco DIF System.

Lenia Ruvalcaba, triple Paralympic medalist, expressed her gratitude for the support of judo in Michoacán, highlighting how the sport promotes essential values ​​such as respect, honesty and self-control, both in competition and in daily life.

The event also marked the twinning with the Hogar Cabañas de Jalisco Social Assistance Center, strengthening collaboration between both states in the sports and social field.

Lilian Estrada Bautista, president of the Mexican Judo Federation, highlighted the advances in the discipline in Michoacán and thanked the support of Grisel Tello and the various institutions involved in the organization of the event, such as the DIF System, Cecufid and the judo federation. .

The cup activities take place during the weekend in the Multipurpose Auditorium of the Army of the Revolution Sports Center (CDER), with competitions in categories ranging from Mini and Baby to Sub 21 and Primera Fuerza.
