The eleventh day of the 2024/25 Eccellenza championship offers endless emotions. At the “Pino Cuccureddu”, Alghero won a daring draw against Barisardo, overcoming the double deficit in the last ten minutes thanks to a decisive brace from Scognamillo.
The match
The start sees Alghero aggressive: in the 3rd minute Baraye hits the crossbar which makes Barisardo tremble. The guests’ response was not long in coming, with Dragan and Dimitrijevic severely challenging Gobbi in the first ten minutes. The match continues with chances on both sides: Mereu becomes dangerous for the Giallorossi with a free kick in the 20th minute, while in the 34th minute Scanu comes close to taking the lead for Alghero following an assist from Baraye. However, it was Barisardo who broke the deadlock in the 35th minute with a precise left-footed shot from Tosi.
In the second half, Barisardo has the opportunity to extend: Dragan wins a penalty, but Gobbi overcomes himself with a save that keeps the home team’s hopes alive. In the 75th minute, however, Vara took advantage of a defensive distraction from Alghero and scored the 2-0, making the match seem closed.
Alghero, however, doesn’t give up. In the 80th minute, Scognamillo reopened the game with a conclusion from Manunta’s throw and, just three minutes later, he scored the equalizer with a header from a corner taken by Mereu. In the fiery final both teams came close to scoring the winning goal, but the result did not change.
The analysis
For Alghero, the point obtained is precious, considering the difficulty of the comeback and the quality of the opponents. With this performance of character, the Giallorossi rise to 15 points in the standings. The next match, away against Carbonia, will be an important test to confirm the progress seen in the second part of this match.
