Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), a gold medalist in badminton at the 2024 Paris Olympics, won the international competition in China.
Ahn Se-young (world No. 1) won the Women’s Singles Final of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 750 Chinese Masters at Shenzhen Arena in Shenzhen, China, on the 24th by beating Kaofangze (28th) of China 2-0 (21-12, 21-8).
Ahn Se-young, who beat Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand, 18th) and Song Shui-in (Taiwan, 24th) 2-1 in the round of 32 and 16, defeated Jang Yi-man (China, 23rd) and Tomoka Miyazaki (Japan, 24th) 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
Even the last opponent Gaofangje beat 2-0 by inducing his mistakes in a row with his unique airtight defense.
The Chinese Masters is the second international competition since the Paris Olympics, where An Se-young won a gold medal.
Ahn Se-young, who took a break for about two months after the Olympics, announced her return through the Danish Open.
Ahn Se-young, who still showed off her skills by finishing second in the competition, did not participate in the Japanese Masters, which ended on the 17th to manage chronic knee and ankle injuries.
Immediately after winning the Olympic gold medal, Ahn directly hit the Korean Badminton Association and the national team on injury management, training methods and decision-making systems.
In response, the association said in a press release the day before, “We held a meeting with the representative players and held a briefing session for communication to actively collect opinions from the players. We have revised some absurd guidelines for the operation of national representatives,” he said.
