Seyoung Ahn defeated Ratchanok Inthanon (Thailand, 18th place) 2-1 in the round of 32 of this tournament and defeated Song Shuoyin (Taiwan, 24th place) 2-1 in the round of 16.

In the quarterfinals, he defeated China’s Zhang Yiman (23rd) with a game score of 2-0 (21-11 21-11). Unlike the round of 32 and round of 16, they improved their condition by winning without giving up a single game. They then won the semifinals with a game score of 2-0.

The opponent in the finals is Gao Fangjie of China, ranked 28th in the world. He was confirmed as Ahn Se-young’s opponent by defeating Suphanida Katetong (Thailand, 8th place), who was 20 places higher than him, 2-0 (21-16 21-15).

However, it would be appropriate to say that the final was bland.

Ahn Se-young, who led Gao Fangjie to a mistake with his unique defensive ability and took the first game 21-12, ran away with 19-6 at one point in the second game, revealing a clear difference in skill, and won by a landslide.

Ahn Se-young is expected to firmly maintain her No. 1 spot in the world rankings by winning the China Masters.

Ahn Se-young maintained first place in the most recent world rankings announced on the 20th, recording 103,267 points. Wang Zhiyi, who defeated Ahn Se-young at the Denmark Open, is in second place with 94,094 points. Chen Yufei is in third place with 93,982 points.

While Chen Yufei has not appeared at any international competitions since the Paris Olympics, Wang Zhiyi was eliminated early after losing to runner-up Gao Fangjie in the round of 16 of this competition. The score gap between Ahn Se-young and Wang Ziyi is expected to widen further.

Meanwhile, Ahn Se-young caused quite a stir when she blew the whistle on the Korean Badminton Association’s administrative chaos and team management problems right after the Paris Olympics.

Afterwards, Ahn Se-young’s remarks received a lot of sympathy, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism investigating the Korea Badminton Association and even going to the National Assembly.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested the dismissal of Kim Taek-gyu, president of the Korea Badminton Association, and has also requested an investigation into him.
