Over the weekend just gonethe Carabinieri has intensified prevention activity in the area of Ivrea and Chivasso, with a particular focus in the evening and night hoursin response to worrying phenomena such as the “Saturday night massacres” and drug dealing. The interventions, carried out jointly between the stations of Ivrea, Valchiusa, Strambino and San Giorgio Canavese, were part of a large “high impact” control service.
Searches and complaints in Ivrea
In Ivrea, the carabinieri concentrated their efforts in the most critical areas of the city, recording numerous interventions. Among the most relevant cases, a 38 year old man was reported for refusing to take an alcohol test following a road accident, while a subsequent search of his car led to the discovery of a stun gun without the red cap, which is why he was also accused of carrying weapons or objects capable of offending.
Another 38-year-old Italian was reported for driving while intoxicatedwhile a 46-year-old man was found in possession of a baseball bat, also reported for possession of weapons, as well as reported for possession of 5.80 grams of hashish. Overall, 4.3 grams of hashish, six homemade cigarettes containing hashish and one cigarette with marijuana were seized.
Furthermore, six people between 20 and 52 years old were reported to the Prefecture of Turin for possession of narcotic substances. In one episode, the carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of Ivrea had to use stinging spray to immobilize an individual who, visibly under the influence of alcohol, had caused a road accident.
Overall, 90 people were checked during the service, 56 of whom underwent alcohol tests, and 56 cars.
Chivasso: Controls and seizures
In the municipality of Chivasso, the carabinieri carried out a similar operation in the area adjacent to the railway station, achieving important results. Two men, aged 45 and 26, were reported to the Prefecture of Turin after being caught with marijuana and hashish, weighing 1.22 and 0.73 grams respectively. A 36-year-old woman of Ecuadorian origin was found in possession of 0.56 grams of marijuana.
During the checks, a 19-year-old young man was fined for driving without a license, while 38 individuals, 12 cars and a commercial business were checked.
