Report from the judo section – November 2024

After the autumn break, our judo division immediately went back to the mat. After a few training sessions we had a special weekend ahead of us. On November 16th and 17th, 2024, we impressively demonstrated that judo is not for first-person shooters: On Saturday it was “Hajime” for four of our athletes at the state team championship in Rendsburg. Together with TSV Tarp they formed a fighting community in the U13. Two of the four starters celebrated their debut in this age group and the other two celebrated their farewell. The team bus left for Rendsburg at exactly 8:30 a.m.

We passed the time until the U13 weigh-in officially began with exciting battles in the U11 age group and were really carried away by the atmosphere in the hall. It was also important to actively cheer on and support our friends from TSV Tarp. After many hard and very exciting fights, the fighting group left the competition area as vice national champions and was able to take a well-deserved, albeit short, breather. The following Sunday, 12 more judoka were supposed to demonstrate their skills and represent the TVG in a worthy manner at the district team championship. This was held as a Japanese tournament.

Although there were fights in age groups, the weight classes were not adhered to. Rather, it was about setting up a team with a predetermined total weight. So it could happen that the weight difference between the judoka was a little larger, which made the encounters even more exciting and instructive. From the first fight onwards, the U9 team showed solid performances and an incredible fighting spirit, which was reflected in a honestly deserved and hard-fought runner-up district championship title. The U11 team improved more and more after initial difficulties and was able to show what they were capable of again in the last encounter. However, this was no longer enough to catch up with the other teams, so we left the Tatami with a bronze placement and the will to try again next year. Due to numerous unavailability of our U13 athletes, it was not possible for us to field our own team in this AK, so we once again competed in a fighting group with TSV Tarp.

This age group was particularly hotly contested and the efforts of the state team championship were still in the bones of the team, which fought its way to third place with enthusiasm and perseverance. After a long weekend of competition, we are incredibly proud and grateful for our courageous children, the patient parents, the support of the Tarper judo division and our coaching and support team! If you would like to get a taste of some mat air, please contact us at [email protected] or come and see us. We train every Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Streichmühle gym. Get out of your socks and onto the mat!
