Steffen Grün makes victory in the individual crime thriller perfect

The home fans in the Hans-Wilhelm-Renkoff-Halle were rewarded not only with high-class badminton, but also with a nerve-wracking thriller in the first men’s singles, in which Steffen Grün became the match winner.

Marktheidenfeld presented itself as strong as usual in the doubles. Fabian Hippold and Steffen Grün won their first men’s doubles confidently, while Lena Rumpold and Lina Schadegg clearly put their opponents in their place in the women’s doubles. Michael Fuchs and Moritz Unz in the second men’s doubles also showed a dominant performance and got the third point for their team.

The highlight of the day was the first men’s singles, in which Steffen Grün met the Austrian Michael Tomic. The match developed into a true crime thriller in which Grün thrilled the spectators with his tireless fighting spirit and impressive rallies. After an up-and-down game, Grün held his nerve in the decisive fifth set and secured another point for his team with a hard-fought victory.

The match day was less happy for Moritz Unz. On his birthday, he was unable to maintain his usual performance in the second men’s singles against the strong Moritz Miller and had to admit defeat in three sets. Nevertheless, Unz was celebrated for his performance by his team and fans – there was plenty of birthday cake and applause.

In the women’s singles, Lina Schadegg once again showed her class and won in three sets. The mixed doubles with Michael Fuchs and Lena Rumpold also presented themselves in top form and gave the Freystadt team no chance.

With this victory, Marktheidenfeld stays on track and underlines its claim to be at the top of the league. For the Marktheidenfelder team it will be about titles next week at the Bavarian championship in their own hall. The last matchday of the first half of the season is December 14th and 15th.
