The return from the International Break couldn’t have gone any better for Inzaghi’s Inter: 5-0 away to Hellas and now leading in the league – albeit just for the moment. Five goals in the first half, for a match which was finished within the first 41 minutes, as Verona couldn’t find a way back. The statistics from the clash tell a striking story of the nerazzurri’s win: seven shots on target with five goals, demonstrating incredible efficiency in the opponent’s half. Then there’s the domination of the ball: 70% possession, a season record in Serie A for the total number of passes, 798. The precision rate was 93.6%a sign that the game was always a love, De Vrij was subbed on in the 15th minute and was a key instigator, achieving another record, that of the amount of passes made in a match this season, 140.
FIVE GOALS IN ONE HALF
Inter scored at least five goals in the first half of a Serie A away match for only the second time in its history in the top tournament, after the 5-1 against Sampdoria on 1 March 1964. A truly sensational figure, which adds to other important statistics.
Inter scored four goals in the first 31 minutes of play in a Serie A match for the first time since 12 March 2017, against Atalanta, also on that occasion scored from 17′ to 31′. Not since last May against Frosinone (5-0, also away) had Inter won a Serie A match with at least a five-goal margin.
Furthermore, the Nerazzurri team has scored at least two goals in each of the last 13 away games against Hellas Verona in Serie A: an absolute record for a team against a single away opponent in the history of the competition.
THURAM-CORREA: GOAL AND ASSIST
Joaquín Correa found the goal again in a Serie A match 756 days after his last goal in the tournament, on 29 October 2022, against Sampdoria, at the Meazza. All three goals scored away by Tucu against Inter came at the Bentegodi, after the brace on his debut in summer 2021.
For Marcus Thuram, however, it was the fourth multiple scoring of the season: he rose to 9 in this championship, with goals always at least in pairs: a brace against Genoa, Atalanta and Verona, a hat-trick against Torino.
GOAL-SCORING DEFENDERS AND MORE
Yann Bisseck he is only one of the three defenders born from 2000 onwards to have scored at least three goals in the last two Serie A seasons (from 2023/24), together with Andrea Cambiaso (three) and Patrick Dorgu (four).
Inter is the team with the highest number of different markers in the five major European championships in progress: 13 (to 12 Bayer Leverkusen, PSG, Monaco and Nizza).
Stefan de Vrij he has scored at least one goal in each of the last three seasons with Inter in Serie A: the most recent came last February against Lecce.
Yann Sommer he crossed the finish line of 100 ‘clean sheets’ in the five major European leagues (25 with the Inter shirt).
