A women’s hat-trick that had been missing since 2010
Emma Piccinin (BC Milan) enters the history of Italian badminton with an extraordinary hat-trick in the Italian Absolute and Para Badminton Championships 2024. The young athlete triumphed in feminine singularIn the women’s doubles and in mixed doublesa feat that hasn’t been seen at a female level since 2010, when it was accomplished by Federica Panini.
In the feminine singularEmma beat the multiple champion Yasmine Hamza (SSV Bozen) with the score of 21-19, 21-14. In doubles, he shone alongside Martina Corsini in the women’s, winning against Sofia Galimberti and Anna Hell (21-10, 21-13), and Gianmarco Bailetti in the mixed, where she beat David Salutt and Martina Corsini (21-19, 21-14).

Male successes and first titles
In the men’s singles, Christopher Victorians (MaraBadminton) won his third consecutive title, prevailing over Fabio Caponio in an exciting match that ended in the third set (21-17, 10-21, 21-13). The men’s doubles saw the first title for Alessandro Gozzini e Luca Zhouwho beat Matteo Massetti and David Salutt in two balanced sets (21-19, 25-23).
Para Badminton: winning doubles
In the for badminton, Yuri Ferrigno (BC Milano) distinguished himself by winning both the WH doubles title, paired with Roberto Punzoand the men’s singles, overcoming Vincenzo Contemi (21-3, 21-2). Also Maria Grazia Leone achieved a double, winning the women’s singles WH and the mixed doubles with Giuseppe Maurizio. Piero Rosario Suma dominated in the men’s WH doubles, while the standing titles went to Frame Rose (SU5) e Tommaso Libertini (SL3).
