Lucknow: The 2024 edition of the Syed Modi Badminton Championshipscheduled from Nov 26 to Dec 1, will feature India’s top shuttlers, including two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty.
Organised by the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association (UPBA) at the Babu Banarasi Das Badminton Academy, the event will also host international stars such as Kantaphon Wangcharoen and Pornpicha Choeikeewong.Indian women’s doubles players Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela, along with Priyanshu Rajawat, Malvika Bansod, and local talent Mansi Singh, will be key players to watch in this marquee tournament.
UPBA president Navneet Sehgal said, “The Syed Modi India International Badminton Tournament is a testament to Uttar Pradesh’s growing stature as a hub for global sporting events. Spectators will enjoy free entry, and the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals will be broadcast live on DD Sports.”
He added that the tournament will offer prize money of $210,000. The main draw will comprise 32 players with 28 gaining direct entry and four coming through the qualifying rounds.
