The DRC basketball Leopards struck a big blow by finishing the second window of the Afrobasket 2025 qualifiers undefeated. This Sunday, November 24, the Congolese signed a third victory in as many matches by winning (76-69) against to the Bright Stars of South Sudan, the best African team in the FIBA rankings, during the last day in Kinshasa.
Carried by a sparkling duo composed of Jordan Sakho and Christian Lutete, authors respectively of 16 points and 8 rebounds, and 19 points and 7 rebounds, the Leopards showed character. Despite a complicated start to the match, where they lost the first quarter (15-21), the Congolese recovered in the second quarter (21-14) to get back in front. They then widened the gap in the third quarter (16-13) before losing a little ground in the fourth (12-16). In overtime, they dominated (12-5) to seal their success.
This victory concludes a perfect campaign for the Leopards in this window, after their successes against Mali and Morocco. With a record of three victories, the DRC is positioned at the top of group A and obtains its ticket for the last window of the qualifiers, scheduled for February 2025.
