Both organizer and competitor, Anthony Rea is organizing this Saturday, November 30 from 6 p.m., a “golden belts” gala in an Olympia gymnasium revamped for the occasion.
It was with emotion that Anthony Rea came to present this weekend’s sporting event.
Indeed, in 2019 a previous Limoux meeting was organized jointly by Anthony and Christophe, brother and alter ego in the mixed martial arts disciplines, who died two years ago.
For many years, the two brothers traveled to various countries, repeatedly carrying champion belts in their respective categories.
Today Anthony, aged 48, would like to make a happy end reference. It will perhaps be this Saturday against the English Shaun nicknamed “the Legend Lomas” in the closing main event (main event) of the gala. “I fought my first amateur fight in 1993 in Limoux and the first professional fight in 1997”.
Despite the weight of his years and thanks to drastic professional training with frequent medical checks, passages in cryogenic chambers, an adapted diet, Anthony remains a high-level athlete.
11 fights including one female
This Saturday, the Limoux public will be invited to nearly four hours of spectacle with 11 fights during the evening, including a women’s fight which attracts particular attention, since the local competitor is none other than Océane Doucet. This young woman, an accomplished sportswoman, stands out in the field of judo, she is a teacher at the Limoux dojo who has for some time chosen to leave her comfort zone to try a sporting adventure in multi-fight combat.
Also announced are three kick boxing fights, i.e. 9 amateur fights. A pure product of the Limoux fight club, Jonathan Saradel will also enter the ring with legitimate pretensions.
The evening will be punctuated by two professional fights: that of Anthony Rea and the one between Frankie Rollandt, a former member of the paratrooper commandos, who knew how to put his military experience at the service of martial arts. Fighting is in his DNA and he intends to prove it at Olympia. To block his way Jean Dutriaux nicknamed “Achille”, professional MMA fighter (pankrace-kenpo), from the Boulogne-sur-Mer Academy.
For now, reservations for the gala are going well, but there are still a handful of places available. Anthony hopes for a thousand spectators in the gymnasium. The Limouxin concludes : “One euro, from the entrance fee, will be donated to the benefit of the 2024 Telethon as well as to the support of commando soldiers, wounded in war”.
