STARTING PASS The Lombards are the ones who start their engines better by scoring the first basket of the match and then going 6-2. An initial break of 9-0 puts the Campobasso team at 11-6 with the two-possession margin maintained consistently thanks to baskets from Quiñonez and Madera. Zięmborska, Trimboli and Giacchetti make the rossoblù escape and double their opponents (20-10), a margin – that in double figures – which remains so until the end of the quarter.
BUZZER-BEATER Zięmborska and Morrison further extended the margin to five full possessions (34-19). Quiñonez widens the margin to +17, Scalia increases the gap and then it’s Zięmborska, with a buzzer-beater, who scores the 46-29 with which we go to the long interval.
DIESEL RETURN Upon returning to the parquet, after Madera’s triple (49-32), the Campobasso team suffered an 8-0 break which brought the Lombard team back to just three full possessions behind. At that point, the rossoblù remain in the wake and close with a score of 59-50 in the 30th minute.
SPRINT FINALE Madera gives a further boost which is worth the return to a double-digit lead then Zięmborska’s two triples in succession give the +20, Scalia again from eight meters writes the final word on the dispute and, in a final in which there is space for the rossoblù juniors Bocchetti, Cerè and Grande in a quintet together with Quiñonez for four fifths of under 19s, Beatrice Cerè earned applause, scoring a triple of all substance, prologue to the 90-69 recorded with the scoresheet closed.
L’ANALISI EX POST In the press room, the coach of Campobasso Mimmo Sabatelli thus circumscribes what was the success of the rossoblù. «After matches like the one on Wednesday in the EuroCup against Girona there is always a bit of a risk of relaxing for a moment and this scared me a bit, but the girls were really good and conducted the match as best they could».
«The group entered the field carefully and, in the first two quarters, showed good situations, but above all an excellent defense that kept their main offensive references Johnson and Tagliamento away from the basket. In the third quarter it was normal for them to react, so, in a time-out, I raised my voice a little, but the girls who returned were good at picking up the thread of the conversation with an excellent last quarter both defensively and offensive”.
NOT JUST BASKETBALL Furthermore, the rossoblù Sunday also had wide social implications with the photo together with the Brescia group at the start of the match for a strong message against violence against women on the eve of the world day against gender violence. Then, in December, on Wednesday 4th and Sunday 8th two other matches at the Arena for the championship: on Wednesday 4th at 6pm the recovery of the sixth round against San Martino di Lupari, ninety-six hours after the match against Faenza for the penultimate first leg. All of this – in a twelfth month of the year – which promises to be equally very intense.
