The Monegasque driver had a tense exchange on the radio with his team about a maneuver by his Spanish teammate.
Charles Leclerc took 4th place in the Las Vegas Grand Prix which crowned Max Verstappen for the fourth time. A good result for Scuderia Ferrari which also got on the podium thanks to Carlos Sainz, third. Despite this good overall result, the atmosphere was not necessarily good in the Italian garage because the two drivers had a disagreement during the grand prix.
When he had just emerged in front of Sainz after a second pit stop, Leclerc was overtaken by the Spaniard. An overtaking which took place while at Ferrari, the Monegasque had the guarantee that the other red car on the track would not “put pressure.” The attitude of the former McLaren driver did not please Leclerc at all, who got annoyed the first time on the radio. “Try telling him in Spanish!”first let go of me Monegasque concerning the instructions visibly not respected.
I know I have to keep quiet but at some point it’s always the same!
Charles Leclerc
The exchange between the Ferrari stand and the driver continued a little later. And Leclerc had obviously still not digested it. “I’ve done my job, whatever you want, but it always makes me sh…, every time it happens this way. It’s not even about being nice, it’s just about being respectful. I know I have to keep quiet but at some point, it’s always the same!”continued Leclerc. “Okay, you did the right thing for the team”his interlocutor replied with Olympian calm so as not to add fuel to the fire.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have sometimes had tense relations within the Italian team. Their collaboration will end at the end of the season since Carlos Sainz will defend the colors of Williams while Leclerc will continue with the “Prancing Horse” alongside Lewis Hamilton, the luxury recruit of the Italian brand.
