The Judo Valdemoro quarry continues to win medals in the national Spanish Cup circuit of the Royal Spanish Federation of Judo and Associated Sports. The young members of the local club returned from the Spanish Children’s and Cadet Cups in Madrid, held in Getafe this weekend, with six metals hanging around their necks: one gold, one silver and four bronzes.

As a cadet, Leire García obtained a new bronze in less than 52 kilos, after having climbed to the third step of the podium for her weight in the Spanish Cadet Cup held in October in Santander. Miguel Ángel Roldán won silver in less than 81 kilos and María Jover and Jorge Fernández-Gaytán added two more bronzes in less than 63 and less than 66 kilos, respectively.

In the children’s category, Elena Sánchez was proclaimed champion in less than 52 kilos after winning all the fights in her category. Andrea Saugar was third in less than 57 kilos and Laura López and Alejandra Martínez were just outside the podium in less than 44 and less than 36 kilos, with two great performances that earned them two fifth places.

Judo Ciempozuelos also had several representatives at the event, which did not leave empty either thanks to Ainara Sánchez’s bronze in women’s less than 44 kilos. The young woman won all her fights until reaching the semifinal, where she could not overcome the Valencian Aiora Martín, current champion of Spain, Europe and the world in this weight of the cadet category.
