Nico Jooste organizes drinks for fruit and vegetable workers at the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation on December 12
“The power of sport to change lives is not unknown to me,” said Nic Jooste. “With more than 15 years of experience in social sports projects in South Africa, I have seen with my own eyes how a ball, a team and a dream can make a world of difference. My pride? The Stars in Their Eyes football project, with which we work in deprived areas inspired children and gave them direction. One of our greatest successes is Desiree Ellis, now the most acclaimed national coach in Africa and an example for thousands of young girls I get to see how sport helps young lives towards a future full of possibilities.”
“Now that my work takes me less far from home, my focus has shifted to impact nearby. In Rotterdam, the heart of the fruit and vegetable sector, I recently met the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation, a special source of inspiration for how football also has a lasting impact locally. can make a difference. Through their SV GIO program, children with learning disabilities get the opportunity to grow through sports and education, build their self-confidence and lay a solid foundation for their future.”
To introduce the fruit and vegetable sector to this special foundation, I am organizing a drink at the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation on December 12. This meeting is especially for entrepreneurs and sustainability specialists from the fruit and vegetable sector who have a heart for social impact. Please note: there is room for only 12 guests, so be quick!” You can register via [email protected]
About the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation
Since 2012, the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation has been working to support children from groups 7 and 8 with a learning disability. Children build their self-confidence and skills through a unique sports and education program. The goal? Making them captains of their own future! At SV GIO, children not only receive guidance in math, language and reading comprehension, but they also learn to persevere, work together and determine their own course. Take the opportunity to meet people who give children wings – or as Giovanni puts it: “Creating a place where children feel at home and learn that they can determine their own course.”
