UD Lanzarote gets its fifth victory in a row by defeating Unión Viera

The Unión Deportiva Lanzarote continues on an upward trend and on Saturday morning it added its fifth consecutive victory of the season, a result that allows it to be placed just one point behind the leadership of group XII of the Third Federation. The rojillos defeated Unión Viera by the minimum, in a match that they dominated from the beginning and in which they were rewarded with a goal in the second half.

From the beginning, as the club explains this Sunday in a press release, UD Lanzarote took control of the match, being the team that had the ball in its possession and the one that was looking for the rival’s goal. Ale Fuentes enjoyed the first chance, his left-footed shot going wide. Shortly after, a shot by Dani González was repelled by the crossbar.

UD Lanzarote’s best chance came on the stroke of half an hour, when Ale Fuentes stood alone and in his one-on-one with Yoni he was not successful in beating Unión Viera. The locals defended themselves with high pressure, trying to make UD Lanzarote’s game difficult.

UD Lanzarote would obtain the reward for their dominance in the 62nd minute of the match. In a play on the right wing, Adrián Machín received it inside the area, and his shot hit goalkeeper Yoni at the near post.

Until the end of the match, UD Lanzarote had chances to achieve a greater result. A drive by Adrián Dorta on the left stood out, his shot going high. And a shot by Álvaro Iglesias that was repelled by the Unión Viera goalkeeper.

The match ended at 0-1, with UD Lanzarote achieving its fifth straight victory and fifth game in which it has kept a clean sheet. The rojillos are placed in third position with 25 points, just one behind UD Las Palmas Atlético and UD San Fernando. Precisely, UD San Fernando will be the next rival of UD Lanzarote.
