Norden – The trip to Hanover-Langenhagen was worth it for Micah and Alina Paris. At the Lions Cup in Godshorn, which was advertised as a state competition in the U13 age group, the northern women competing for Visbek were happy about placing first and third in their respective classes.
Due to its importance, the tournament was considered a mandatory event by the Lower Saxony Judo Association for all squad members and potential candidates. It was open to all state associations.
Eleven-year-old Micah Paria started in the U13 pool system in the weight class up to 36 kilograms. She had to complete four fights before she could deservedly receive the trophy as winner of the Lion Cup. The northerner was even able to decide three of the four duels early in her favor in a convincing manner. In the fight for first place, it was an exciting and evenly matched duel between two squad athletes from Lower Saxony. The fight continued well into the golden score. There Micah Paris finally achieved the decisive Waza-ari score.
Her sister Alina, who is two years older, competed in the U15 pool in the weight class up to 44 kilos. She also had to cope with a demanding program. After strenuous battles that went all the way to the Golden Score, she took third place.
