Me Babacar Ndiaye responds to Desagana Diop and defends the efforts of the State

Me Babacar Ndiaye, president of the Senegalese Basketball Federation (FSBB), responded to the statements of Desagana Diop, coach of the Senegal team, who had denounced the conditions of regrouping and preparation of the national team.

“I consider Desagana to be a very correct and courteous person. However, I would like to remind you that the Ministry of Sports made significant efforts to hold this competition. The resources dedicated to international competitions were exhausted, but the State still mobilized considerable resources,” he said.

He continued: “Desagana is a technician, and his role is to demand the best conditions for the team. However, he does not have all the information about the behind-the-scenes efforts. In all honesty, we were privileged to ensure the organization of this stage of the qualifiers.”

Me Babacar Ndiaye remains optimistic for the future: “In 2025, when budgets are normalized, we hope that things will improve further. I understand Desagana’s frustrations, but it is important to recognize the sacrifices made by the state for this competition.”

In addition, the president of the FSBB gave an overall positive assessment after the Lions’ three consecutive victories at home during the second window of the 2025 AfroBasket men’s qualifiers.

“Organizationally and sportingly, we can be satisfied. FIBA itself recognized the quality of the organization. We have done a remarkable job to make our national team shine,” he concluded.
