Pereira, November 25, 2024. The last week of the I National and Paranational Youth Games begins. The Government of Risaralda Casta de Campeones still has a chance to add medals in boccia, in Manizales, in badminton, in Pereira, in judo, in the Risaraldense capital and in Freestyle, on Wednesday in Armenia.

In boccia, Risaralda will seek to win bronze in the women’s and men’s individual, after the good performance at the Coliseo Menor Ramón Marín Vargas in Manizales.

During this second day of competitions, the Risaraldense delegation once again showed determination. The day began with a victory for Víctor Alexis Rojas, who in the men’s BC2 category dominated his opponent from Meta with a resounding 12 – 2, demonstrating absolute control throughout the match.

The second competition of the day was in the women’s BC2 category, where Valeria Cardona Espinosa was defeated in the quarterfinals with a score of 17 – 0 by the representative of Bogotá.

The third challenge of the day took place in the team mode, when Risaralda faced Valle del Cauca. The Riscarraldenses Quimberly Mariana Hurtado Morales, Valeria Cardona Espinosa and Víctor Alexis Rojas had difficulties losing the first three sets (1-0, 1-0, 2-0), although they managed to win the fourth set 2-0. However, the Valle del Cauca team won again in the fifth set. Despite a final reaction from Risaralda, who won the last set 2-0, the overall score favored Valle del Cauca with a 6-4.

The day continued with new emotions in the quarterfinals of the men’s BC2 category, where Víctor Alexis Rojas faced the Meta representative again. The Risraldense showed confidence and dominated the match, winning the first three sets (1-0, 4-0, 4-0), to seal a resounding 9-0 that allowed him to advance to the semifinals.

In the fifth challenge of the day, Valeria Cardona Espinosa played the BC2 women’s semifinal against the representative of Caldas, who won 11-0, demonstrating her high level. Cardona will fight for the bronze medal in the final for third place, while his opponent advanced to the final in search of gold.

The closing of the day came with the BC2 men’s semifinal, where Víctor Alexis Rojas faced the representative of Valle del Cauca.

The match was close, with the Risaraldense winning the second and third sets (2-0 and 1-0), while his opponent won the first and fourth sets (1-0 and 2-0). Both players had to play an additional set, which was won by the valley 2-0, ensuring their place in the gold medal final. For his part, Rojas will compete for bronze.

BADMINTON

In badminton, the day sent several Rirasaldenses towards classification to the next round, who with two dates played, remain with possibilities. These were the results:

First thing in the morning, Juan Andrés Arias beat Samuel Gámez, from Quindío, 2-0. Juan Felipe Moreno lost 2-0 to Sergio Zapata, from Quindío. Juan Andrés Martínez won 2-0 against Thomás Pulido, from Bogotá. Natalia Ochoa won 2-0 in her match against Sara Buitrago, from Bogotá. Jared Galvis lost 2-0 against Nicolás Morales, from Quindío.

In his second match of the day, Juan Andrés Martínez lost 2-0 against David Ríos of Antioquia.
