The Bolívar state delegation achieved a discreet performance within the framework of the celebration of the Oriente 2024 National Youth Games, which concluded this weekend in which it finished in twelfth place in the general table.
The Bolivarian team achieved a total of 39 medals to its credit, of which 15 were gold, 7 silver and 17 bronze medals, highlighting the performance of the judo team.
Bolivarian judoca power
Once again, the darlings of Kilmar Campos, president of the Bolívar State Judo Association, showed their absolute power, so much so that they won eight gold medals, four silver and three bronze medals for the entity to top the list of Bolivar medals.
Not a minor fact, the forcefulness with which the judo members added their medals, who achieved 15 medals with 15 participants, that is, none of the athletes from the Bolívar state, was left without a medal.
A golden Judo
Bolívar took up to five gold medals ahead of Falcón, second in the competition, after adding three gold and two bronze, while third, to complete the podium of the best teams, went to Zulia, who took two gold
Judo was bathed in gold with the performance of athletes Juan Hernández in the -55 kg category, Andrés León in -60 kg, Francisco López in -73 kg, Luis Pariche -81kg, Gustavo Cañizalez in +100 kg, Leomaris Ruiz -52 kg, Natalia Odremán -57 kg, and Hannelys Espina in -70 kg.
For their part, the entity’s judokas, who took the silver medal in this national competition, were Bertilio Montilla in -90 kg, Audreys Pacheco in -63 kg, Génesis Moreno in -78 kg and Disleidy Subero in the +78 category.
While judo completed its great performance, with the three bronze medals achieved by Danny Ríos with -66 kg, Robinson Danields in -100 kg and Alexandra Arcia in -48 kg.
Three gold for coleus
Coleus, meanwhile, had a great performance for the Bolívar state by winning three gold medals, in a return to the leading role that the discipline has had, compared to other previous sporting years.
The great figure of this sport for the entity was the Amazonian Gabriela Navas, a native of Puerto Píritu, a member of the entity, who set the tone in the women’s field, from where the Bolivarian coleo medals emerged.
One of them with the individual championship achieved, also placed the gold plates with the goal kick and finally her driver, the mare “Chamarrera” shone so much that she was crowned with gold as well.

The representation of the Bolívar state, of the ancient sporting activity, contributed two gold medals to the entity, reaching two gold, one silver and two bronze, for five in total.
With this performance, the delegation placed sixth out of the 18 states that took part in the activity, having participated with a total of 13 athletes.
Andrés Vásquez stood out with gold in the men’s 75 kilogram category and Noymar Escobar, gold in the women’s 48 kg version.
In addition, Luis González, who won the silver medal in the northern Taulu men’s category (forms), while Abraham Farías in the men’s 65 kg and Andrés Villegas in the men’s 60 kg, won bronze.
The competitions were held at the facilities of the Libertador Simón Bolívar Sports Complex in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui state.
Mountain biking with a great champion
The mountain biking delegation of the Bolívar state was another of the great highlights and saw the emergence of the new women’s national champion, the cyclist Ana Paula Ron, who took home a golden double.
The aforementioned rider not only won the short competition on the route completed in the city of Maturín, but also took victory in the Olympic Cross Country, XCO long track event, an unprecedented event for the darling of Álvaro Darriba and its people.
Ana Paula therefore won two gold medals, while the Bolivarian delegation also celebrated a bronze medal, the latter in the legs of Luis Antonio Moreno, after his meritorious third place in the short competition on the route completed in Maturín.
Only medals in eight disciplines
In total, Bolívar won medals in eight disciplines, adding to these previously mentioned, five medals that wushu achieved in a great way, two of them gold, one silver and two bronze for five in total.
Sambo, for its part, added five medals with two silver and three bronze, another five bronze from Tae-Kwon Do, while bowls with two bronze and one of the same metal for Kempo, closed the actions of the entity .
The sum of the medals achieved can be considered modest, given the state’s other performances in national games, such as the one achieved in Yaracuy 1997 when, under the command of Professor Abelardo Cova, the entity added 101 medals, of which 33 were gold.
And the historic participation of the state of Bolívar, in the Lara 2001 edition, which with the help of the “Wizard” Sam Shepperd, achieved fourth place in the fair, having among other great performances in judo and chess, in addition to BMX.
