BarcelonaThe College of Doctors of Barcelona (CoMB) has awarded the Professional Excellence Awards to around fifty medical professionals and care teams who have stood out for the excellence and quality of their job and career path. The awards were first presented two decades ago and recognize doctors from various fields who have stood out for representing essential values of the medical profession, such as honesty, commitment, altruism and integrity .
In its twentieth edition held this Monday at the L’Illa Auditorium in Barcelona, the medical institution recognized the work of four Catalan healthcare teams: the Multipathological Patient Care Program team -PAPPA- of the Hospital de Barcelona, led by Dr. Nadia Stasi; the team of the Oropharyngeal Dysphagia Research Unit at the Mataró Hospital, headed by Dr. Pere Clavé; the primary care team (EAP) of Arenys de Mar as part of the Catalan Institute of Health and with Dr. Ricardo Peiró as responsible, and the Group’s Intermediate Care Home Hospitalization Service MUTUAM, captained by Dr. Jeanette Mandujano.
Beyond the group recognitions, the College of Doctors has also awarded 51 doctors from the districts of Barcelona. Among the fifty award winners are names such as that of the head of the digestive oncology section at Hospital del Mar, Clara Montagut Viladot, or that of the specialist in family and community medicine at CAP La Garriga (Vallès Oriental) Jordi Martí Llobet
The career and commitment of professionals such as Marta Aymerich Martínez, who directs the digital health research center (eHealth Center) of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC); the until now head of the Infectious Diseases Service at the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell, Manel Cervantes Garcia (recently retired), the microbiology and parasitology specialist at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Research Institute and Hospital, Cristina Vilaplana Massaguer , and the head of the pneumology unit at the General Hospital of Granollers, Enric Barbeta Sánchez.
Since the College of Doctors of Barcelona began to recognize the work of health professionals in Catalonia twenty years ago, nearly 950 doctors and a total of 49 care teams have been awarded.
