Last Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, this year’s second Dan graduation of the Saxony Judo Association took place in Crimmitschau at the Judo Club. The Crimmitschau Judo Club hosted this event, where a total of 59 judoka were present. Of these 59 judoka, 41 appeared for graduation to take their exams for 1st to 5th Dan. This was the last opportunity to take the exam according to the old graduation regulations. The graduation committee consisted of 14 members who took the exams on four mats. Unfortunately, not all participants were able to pass the graduation completely, as the achievements in the individual modules varied greatly and therefore only partial recognition could be given.
It is particularly unfortunate that the performance in the preparatory consultations was better than in the actual graduation. This shows how important it is to keep your nerve even under exam conditions and deliver the best possible performance. But of course it also shows that consultations are important for intensive preparation and to get a feeling for the maturity of your preparations.
Many thanks go to the Judo Club Crimmitschau for the excellent organization of the event and to the representatives of the commission for their support on site.
Now we would like to congratulate all of the successful graduates once again and wish them much success on their journey ahead! Leon Petzoldt (new 1st Dan) and Swen Glawe (new 5th Dan) achieved special achievements! Here too, respect and recognition!
What is important for a judo-specific Dan graduation?
A Dan graduation in Judo is a significant milestone and requires extensive preparation. Graduates pay attention to various aspects, including:
– Appearance: A neat and tidy appearance is important.
– Technique and throwing principles: Correct execution of techniques and understanding of throwing principles are crucial.
– Kata: The demonstration of Kata, a set sequence of techniques, is also part of the graduation.
– Combat Skills/Situational Movement: The ability to apply the techniques in movement will also be assessed.
The graduates ensure that the examinees meet the requirements and demonstrate their skills. One should and should be aware that the graduates have also been in this situation at some point and therefore fundamentally understand the nervousness of the examinees.
