In the beginning it was Tic, or Tutti Insieme Cantù. Unique case in Italy of popular ownership at the service of a professional club. The legal entity, among other things, was fundamental for the acquisition of the club from the Gerasimenko family. Had it not been for Tic, we would not be here to tell the story of one of the most glorious clubs in our sport: Pallacanestro Cantù.

All together Cantù made the difference, held the reins of the club for a long time and now shares the biancoblù ownership with Cantù Next and Cantù Sports Holding. In percentages distributed as follows: 40% Cantù Next, 37.73% Cantù Sports Holding and 22.27 Tic itself.

Sensational rise

And precisely in these times is the sensational rise of Csh, which is receiving more and more requests for membership. With Cantù Next which by choice decided not to expand its base, remaining faithful to the magnificent visionaries of the first hour (or almost) led by the always brilliant president Sergio Paparelli, a good achievement to become the holding company of the sole director Lorenzo Longhi.

He first, a dynamic entrepreneur from Como, went on the hunt for new faces, taking advantage of a warm, and not entirely expected, desire for Cantù. And desire for Cantù Basketball. The driving force, needless to say, is the upcoming city arena, which means many things, but also the sporting situation.

It is true that the first three attempts to return to Serie A failed, but the team has always been – and is – among the absolute protagonists of Lnp, with two lost finals and in between an exit in the playoff semi-final, which were also worth injections of confidence, with the spectacle of the decisive series with Trieste which provided unforgettable numbers and entertainment.

Well, we certainly like the widespread shareholder structure in these parts. With Cantù Sports Holding ready to transform into a new Tic. Magnet of ambitions and resources, economic (they always make the difference), but not only.

From the initial nineteen members, everything is ready for a further leap in quality. Because we are preparing, by Christmas, to double the members, presenting an even more varied and always top-level team.

Entrepreneurs, but not only, have already said yes to Lorenzo Longhi. For a “here we are” that sounds like light music, very light indeed, in the ears of the Como accountant. And the identikit of the new member does not only have Canturin/Brianzoli features. On the contrary. As had already happened with Cantù Next, here is the presence of the entire surrounding territory, from Como to Monza Brianza, no territory included.

Participation, ideas and resources

What does all this mean? Participation, ideas, resources. And planning for the future with greater peace of mind. Budget increasingly in line with the company’s ambitions and the awareness of knowing how to be ready when the leap in quality takes place, both in terms of category and management of the benefits brought by the new arena not only to the sporting movement in the area.

Longhi, needless to say, is the image of happiness. Aware of having created a top holding company, he now knows he can fly on the wings of enthusiasm, concreteness and authority. Rumors that can only be good for the basketball product, understood as a team and results.

And the Basile effect, with everything it has brought and will bring, is already the best confirmation.
