The Municipal Point of the Regional Observatory of Gender Violence of the Mancomunidad La Maliciosa has been recognized by the Community of Madrid on its twentieth anniversary of service, on the occasion of November 25.
A recognition that has been carried out by the Minister of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, Ana Dávila, and that has been collected by the coordinator of the Regional Observatory Point, Virgina Alonso Adeva and the director of the La Maliciosa Commonwealth, Marisa López Barón.
This recognition distinguishes, in the section of entities and institutions, to the first municipal points of the Regional Observatory of Gender Violence, which are celebrating 20 years providing a preventive and care service with professionalism and commitment.
That of the La Maliciosa Commonwealth is part of them, along with those of Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez, Arganda del Rey, Coslada, Leganés, Mejorada del Campo, Móstoles, Navalcarnero, Pozuelo de Alarcón, San Fernando de Henares, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Torrejón de Ardoz, Tres Cantos and Valdemoro.
The Minister of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, Ana Dávila, has chaired the event to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women at the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the regional Executive. During the official ceremony he stressed “today we pay tribute to institutions and organizations that work tirelessly to help and accompany all of them, and mainly, those who can no longer be with us.”
The counselor has maintained that the regional Executive has taken on this fight as one of its “top priorities.” Emphasizing that “violence against women does not understand class or ideology.” And she will continue working so that no one feels alone. “We are not going to let them down,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, among the entities recognized by the regional Executive, the Pilar Estébanez 24-hour Crisis Center of the Madrid City Council has been included, which was the first resource to serve women victims of sexual assault put into operation in Spain. The Community of Madrid offers two more of these characteristics, the second recently opened with residential spaces. The Crime Victim Assistance Office, which provides psychosocial advice, support and information on the judicial situation to this group, has also received an award.
Likewise, the work carried out by the Group against Trafficking in Human Beings of the Civil Guard and the Madrid Provincial Immigration and Border Brigade of the National Police has been highlighted, for their dedication and fight against trafficking in women for the purposes of exploitation. sexual; and to the Congregation of the Oblate Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer, for their commitment to solidarity since 1864 with girls, young people and women in situations of prostitution.

As for the people honored for their dedication in this area, the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs has highlighted the work of the intercultural mediators of the Pachamama and Ayaan Hirsi Alí Centers in the capital, who carry out their work in centers with women from other cultures and in situations of social exclusion.
Also to the magistrates of the Provincial Court of Barcelona, for making history with a pioneering sentence that sentenced a man who sexually assaulted a minor in Igualada to 35 years in prison in 2021, without the need for his testimony.
Finally, the Community of Madrid has given a special recognition to the Israeli women victims of the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023. Ilana Grizewsky, who was kidnapped for more than 50 days, has collected the award as a symbol to denounce the use of women’s bodies as a weapon of war.

Furthermore, in Guadarrama on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women, a manifesto was read and a minute of silence was observed in the Plaza Mayor. A rally that, despite the rain, was held at 12:00 p.m. and some citizens gathered there.
