Gwacheon City has decided to significantly improve user convenience by integrated operation of three public tennis courts, including Gwanmun Sports Park, Munwon Sports Park, and Clear Water Office, starting next year.

According to the city on the 26th, the tennis court at Gwanmun Sports Park is currently being operated by the Gwacheon City Tennis Association, the tennis court at Munwon Sports Park is being operated by Munwon Tennis Club, and the tennis court at Clean Water Business Center is being operated through a business agreement with Maebong Tennis Club.

As the demand for sports increases due to the influx of local population, there have been continuous requests for improvements in how citizens can freely and conveniently use public tennis courts.

In particular, as private tennis courts within apartment complexes have decreased due to recent reconstruction, difficulties in using the facilities are increasing.

Accordingly, with the goal of operating the facility in a fair and transparent manner, the city plans to recruit entrusted organizations by the 29th and sign a consignment contract within the next month to begin full-scale operation early next year.

The city plans to operate a transparent online reservation system so that citizens can conveniently reserve facilities, and also prepare measures to give citizens priority access.

Mayor Shin Gye-yong said, “We have decided to pursue integrated operation so that citizens can use public sports facilities conveniently and fairly,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide a pleasant exercise environment for citizens by expanding and improving sports facilities.”

Gwacheon City plans to move the basketball court at Gwanmun Sports Park to an in-line court in the first half of next year to meet the increasing demand for tennis and build three additional tennis courts in its place. Additionally, the aged artificial turf at the Clear Water Business Center’s tennis court is scheduled to be replaced within next year.
