There are three projects – among the many commitments he will have to face – on which he is working to get to the ribbon cutting as soon as possible. One is that of the nautical detachment in Ansedonia; another is the acquisition of the building on Giglio Island which will have to become the headquarters of the Corps’ staff, the third is the definition of the management regulations of the gym which has been completely renovated (and equipped with a photovoltaic system) and which will therefore be able return to hosting athletes of various disciplines (volleyball, basketball, judo and everything that can take place inside a gym).
Engineer Roberto Bonfiglio, the new provincial commander of the Fire Brigade, already has very clear ideas. Perhaps he is advantaged by the fact that he knew the Maremma reality well, having served in Grosseto from 2011 to 2020 (from 2016 also with the rank of deputy commander), but he certainly did not spend much time before lining up a timetable that is anything but approximate.
“I returned to Grosseto after four years spent in two other situations as commander – says Bonfiglio – and now we will have the opportunity to complete projects whose process began when I was here. And this gives a lot of satisfaction. First of all the purchase of the Giglio headquarters, for which we are waiting to define some documents but which I believe is possible to close by the end of the year. Then we are also working on the procedure to give management to the gym which will finally be used again”.
And between one project and another there is also time to remember some simple rules to be respected by citizens to reduce fire risks. And since we are approaching Christmas, the invitation is to pay attention to one thing above all: “The advice – says the commander – is to pay attention to the lights that are traditionally used for decorations. To avoid fire risks it is necessary to avoid to overload the sockets by using, for example, many plugs in the power strips”.
In the meantime, however, attention is also paid to the preparation of the celebrations of the patron saint Santa Barbare scheduled for Wednesday 4 December. For Bonfiglio it will be the first official public outing as commander in Maremma.
