Point of no returnthe series on the 3Cat platform, won an International Emmy this morning. With this production, Raül Gallego, the director, has been able to anticipate the present day by delving into the Palestinian Islamic jihad, he has captured the bellicose drift of the United States and portrayed the migratory drama in Europe. When the world forgot about Ukraine, it remembered the most tragic consequences of this war from the front lines. With sensitivity, he has revealed to us the dignity of Canada’s indigenous people fighting for the climate.

Even days before Pilar Rahola charged against TV3 for public television’s news focus on Gaza, Point of no return already contradicted her with Israel Balagan. In this last episode, Gallego is able to condense in twenty minutes and with admirable clarity the complexity of the state of Israel and the division in which its society lives, which goes far beyond its conflicts with Hamas and the ‘Iran. Do not miss it, because after each chapter this series allows its viewers to make a more accurate reading of reality. Gallego has the ability to look at the world with an almost visionary capacity, prioritizing the human condition, which is where the root of great events lies.
The series of short documentaries about the most hopeless conflicts in the world has received recognition of high media prestige, but it is worth saying that for too many months neither 3Cat nor TV3 seemed to know how to see the quality of the product they had. When it was released, Point of no return it did not receive any prominent promotion or was visually prioritized in the 3Cat header. After the terrible attacks by Hamas against Israel, the network did not have the waist to react quickly and promote the chapter that connected with the drama. With the attack on Trump, it took time to make the episode that explained, precisely, the state of paranoia and tension in the United States. They haven’t even aired the entire series on TV3.
After all the 3Cat money wasted on regrettable and absurd formats for which they dare not even give the audience figures, after the bulk hirings without judgment or supervision, after all the signings ofinfluencers that truncate the Catalan language and are a festival of emptiness, after confusing a public medium with YouTube, after investing in content that has brought down the standards of quality and prestige of public television, we hope that this Emmy a Point of no return serve to make the platform reconsider its drift. And let them see that investing in quality, in expertise, in prestigious professionals and in journalism is what projects you to the world in the most dignified way. And maybe that’s how they manage to appeal to this young audience that they’re looking for so much, but out of concern for the world and not out of stupidity. Point of no return must be the reference.
