Barcelona closes its entertainment stands at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc indefinitely. The Barça club has announced the “sine die” measure through an official statement due to the “non-compliance of the groups that are part of the obligations they have assumed.” The measure will, therefore, now affect Barça-Brest this Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m., matchday 5 of the Champions League.
The Barça club had requested payment from the four groups that make up this Animation Space (Almogàvers, Front 532, Nostra Ensenya and Supporters Barça) to pay the 21,000 euros already paid and corresponding to the sanctions imposed last season. These groups had until Monday at 11:59 p.m. to make payments, but they refused to satisfy the club’s demand because they consider that responsibility for specific acts cannot be collective, but rather that of whoever uttered offensive chants or ignited some flare
Although the statement speaks of an indefinite closure, the intention is that the situation is exceptional and the four animation groups continue to support the team starting with the match against Las Palmas next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. However, the differences between both parties do not allow us to be optimistic about the return of the cheering stands to the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc.
«Given the content of the agreements accepted and signed between the Club and the entertainment groups, FC Barcelona, after repeated warnings, began the process to recover the amount of the sanctions imposed on the Club for its behavior in the stands during last season. ; behavior that generated up to fourteen disciplinary proceedings for behavior contrary to the regulations in force in the entertainment area. During this process, the Groups have been granted up to three different deadlines for compliance with their obligations; “The last one expired yesterday at midnight without any results,” continues the statement from the Barça club.
And it concludes: «As the different Groups were informed, having not fulfilled its obligations in any of the deadlines granted, FC Barcelona proceeds to close the Animation Space sine die. At the same time, we reiterate to the Groups in question the Club’s total availability, once they have fulfilled their obligations, to discuss the EDA situation with them.
