Emma Piccinin lands the all-in-one ace in the 47th edition of the Italian Championships in Chiari, winning the singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles for the first time in her career. For the young Milanese born in 2004, this is an almost historic feat, given that among women this result had been missing in Italy since 2010. Piccinin – member of the BClub Milano – prevailed in a competitive event, which saw the participation of almost all the best Italians in the discipline. The only absentee was the home idol and number one of the movement Giovanni Toti, who made way in the men’s singles to the third consecutive tricolor seal of the Italian-Danish Christopher Vittoriani. Chiari instead celebrated with the other host Alessandro Gozzini, winner for the first time in the mixed doubles together with the Roman Luca Zhou. Returning to Emma, in the singles the Lombard won the final over the Sicilian Yasmine Hamza in two sets. An even more important success considering that Hamza – returning from a knee injury – has three Italian titles and considerable international experience under his belt. In the women’s doubles Piccinin lifted the cup with the other Milanese Martina Corsini (fourth consecutive victory in the discipline). The two club mates and fellow citizens beat the Galimberti/Hell pair in the final.
Finally, in the mixed tournament Piccinin, together with Gianmarco Bailetti from the Marche region, defeated Corsini and David Salutt in the last act, again in two sets. In badminton, besides Toti, there seems to be life and Lombardy has many other young talents who can blossom.
