The second game of the World Chess Championship in Singapore ends in a draw. Ding Lirenwith the white pieces, and Gukesh played an Italian opening. A rather rare jumper maneuver by Ding Liren gave the Indian Gukesh something to think about. After exchanging queens, the Chinese only had slight advantages that he didn’t know how to consolidate. Repeating the move resulted in a draw after 23 moves and almost three hours of play.

This means that after two of a maximum of fourteen games it is 1.5 to 0.5 for the defending champion Ding Liren. The next game starts on Wednesday at 10 a.m. German time.
