Parlati and Pirelli dream of a coup

From Saturday 7th to Sunday 8th December the Grand Slam in Tokyo 2024the last seasonal event of the judo World Tour. Expected for the moment (but the large Japanese block is still missing) are 226 athletes from 46 different countries, including Italy. However, numbers are decreasing compared to the last editions, due to an unfavorable position in the calendar in the year of the Paris Olympic Games.

To date (registrations officially expire on November 29th) 12 Italian judokas appear on the provisional entry list for the event, including 8 men and 4 women. Spotlight on the Olympians Christian Parlati and Gennaro Pirelli (already winner of the prestigious Japanese event in 2022), possible protagonists in terms of podium and victory respectively in the -90 and -100 kg weight categories.

Also present in the men’s field Valerio Accogli (66 kg), Mattia Miceli (66 kg), Giovanni Esposito (73 kg), Giacomo Gamba (81 kg), Leonardo Casaglia (81 kg) and Enrico Bergamelli (100 kg). In the women’s sector, two juniors will be involved Michela Terranova (57 kg) and Sara Corbo (63 kg) in addition to Flavia Favorini (63 kg) and Giorgia Stangherlin (70 kg).
