Video game development studio Humanoid Origin, founded by former BioWare CEO Casey Hudson, has announced its closure due to funding problems. Despite efforts to protect the studio, an unexpected funding shortage prevented it from sustaining operations.
“Earlier in the day we informed our staff that Humanoid Origin will be closing its doors. Despite efforts to protect the studio from broader industry challenges, an unexpected funding shortfall prevented us from sustaining operations.
We are heartbroken that we will not be able to complete our new sci-fi universe. At this time, however, our main concern is for our team, and we are committed to supporting them in the transition to new employment.
In our time together, the team has made incredible progress and demonstrated that it is possible to do extraordinary work while fostering a culture of fun and creativity,” the statement continues. We thank them for their talent, their courage and their friendship.
Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout our journey.”
Casey Hudson, known for directing and producing hit titles such as the Mass Effect trilogy and Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic during his work at BioWare, had founded Humanoid Origin in 2021 together with a team of industry veterans video games.
