After his departure from the New York Giants, quarterback Daniel Jones has found a new team. According to consistent media reports, he has reached an agreement with the Minnesota Vikings.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Jones will initially sign a contract for the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones is signing a one-year contract worth $375,000 for the remainder of the season. Spicy: Jones could still sign with another team if a starting quarterback were to be unavailable in the next three weeks.
With the Vikings, Jones could provide competition for previous starter Sam Darnold. The youngster JJ McCarthy, who was signed by the Vikings in the draft, suffered an injury in the preseason and will be out for the entire season.
Jones asked to be released from the New York Giants last Friday after losing his position as starting quarterback.
Second chance after a slow start to the season with the Giants
The 27-year-old was selected sixth overall by the Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft and became a starter in New York, but never remained uncontroversial despite a lucrative contract extension.
He has had a poor season so far with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
