Botafogo, a club owned by John Textor, regained the lead in the Brazilian championship by winning 3-1 on the lawn of its pursuer Palmeiras on Tuesday evening.
The Carioca club of Botafogo, owned by OL president John Textor, has taken a big step towards the title of Champion of Brazil. Artur Jorge Amorim’s men indeed won on the Palmeiras pitch 3 goals to 1, now second in the standings, three points behind their competitor. After stringing together three draws, Botafogo saw Palmeiras come back on their heels in the standings. There are now two days left before the end of the Championship to allow Botafogo to maintain their lead over Palmeiras. But Botafogo must also play a match of the highest importance on Saturday at 9 p.m. with its Copa Libertadores final which will pit it against Atletico Mineiro at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
