Russian football champion nominated for Georgian presidency

The honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, announced that Russian football champion Mikheil Kavelashvili has become a candidate for the presidency of Georgia. The 53-year-old ex-football player occupies the seat of a member of the Georgian Parliament.

Kavelashvili received the title of Russian champion in 1995 as part of the Spartak-Alania team from Vladikavkaz. Also, together with Grasshopper, he won the Swiss championship and became a multiple champion of Georgia, playing for Dynamo Tbilisi.
