The Spanish badminton team falls to England in the Junior European Championship

Palma, Nov 27 (EFE).- The Spanish badminton team has suffered its first defeat in the European Junior Championships being held in Ibiza, losing 3-2 in a tight match against the English team.

The Spaniards, who beat Austria 5-0 on the opening day, got off to a good start thanks to the mixed doubles victory of Adolfo López and Carmen Jiménez against Jia Bin Lee and Lucy Dodd in two sets.

However, the English team has taken advantage of the individual duels to turn the score around thanks to James Song, who defeated Yaidel Gil 21-8 and 21-17; and Iziar Barcala has not been able to beat Rajvi Parab (21-14 and 21-15).

Things have not gone well for the men’s doubles formed by Adolfo López and Ramón Rovira, who have been beaten in an even match by Benjamin Horseman and Jia Bin Lee and with the match already decided, the women’s doubles of the Balearic Islands Macarena Izquierdo and Carmen Jiménez to face Lila Dundas and Matilda Franklin, a match in which Spain has added its second point, which could be decisive in the event of a tie once the phase ends of groups this Thursday.
